What is Plotter by Jon?
This is a browser-based G-code generator for 3D printers or pen plotters to turn images or patterns into art. For 3D printers, tape a pen to the printhead, keeping the pen tip below the nozzle. Or, 3D print a custom bracket for your printer. Next import images or SVGs, adjust settings, and download ready-to-print G-code. Enjoy!
Quick Start
- Set your Project Name above — the output filename tracks it automatically.
- Open Bed & Pen Settings to configure your machine dimensions, Z heights, and speeds. Do this before anything else.
- Click + Import Image / SVG or + Add Pattern to add layers.
- Each layer has a
⚙ button — click it to generate toolpaths. Or use ⚙ Generate All to process every layer at once.
- Drag, rotate, and scale layers directly on the canvas. Corner handles = scale, top circle = rotate, drag inside = move.
- Use the Snap buttons in the layer panel to align to the bed.
- Click Download to save the
.gcode file.
Tips
- SVG files produce the cleanest lines — use Inkscape to convert artwork.
- PNG/JPG images are traced or hatched automatically.
- Enable Pause After Layer in a layer's settings to swap pens mid-print.
- Double-click the canvas to reset the view. Scroll to zoom.
- Select a layer on canvas then press
Delete to remove it.
- Use Save Project to export your session as JSON and reload it later.
